Lime In Charleston

Lime, the world’s largest provider of shared electric vehicles, launched a new e-bike sharing program in Charleston with support from the Medical University of South Carolina’s health system (MUSC Health).

Lime is deploying a fleet of more than 200 of its new Gen4 industry leading e-bikes, which come equipped with a swappable, interchangeable battery that optimizes the efficiency and sustainability of its operations. The launch makes Charleston one of the only cities in North America to have a fleet of Gen4 e-bikes on the streets, joining major cities like San Diego and Washington DC.

Some Rider FAQs and Tips

  • Riders can sign up by downloading the Lime app from IoS or the Android store. Once in the app, you enter your information and you will have the ability to begin riding in Charleston (and hundreds of other locations worldwide). Reminder, that Lime is for riders 18 years of age and older.

  • We encourage everyone to wear a helmet while riding a Lime bicycle though they are not required by law to wear in Charleston.

  • Bicyclists have the right to use roads and any other designated paths/routes as long as they are riding responsibly. Obey all traffic control devices, such as stop signs, lights and lane markings.

Please refer to the City of Charleston’s Bike Right, Drive Right campaign for a map of pathways and bikeways in the region where it is legal to ride bikes

  • On the Peninsula, riders must end their rides at one of the 27 stations located around the Charleston Peninsula. You can find a map of those locations inside the Lime app. You can pause your ride outside of the corral locations; however, we ask that you pause your ride responsibly and make sure that you leave at least 3-feet of space in the public right of way and do not block private property.

  • Riders must not end their trip outside of a corral location. Additionally, there are a number of zones throughout the City that riders should not ride in (like the market area for instance). Those areas are indicated in the Lime app.
